Abstract

This study aims to analyze the university requirements in Yemeni universities under the control of the Houthi group by uncovering the background that paved the way for their restructuring, identifying the most notable amendments introduced to them, analyzing their intellectual content, and evaluating them in light of the philosophy of university education, academic standards, and the regulations governing higher education in Yemen. The study adopted the descriptive-documentary approach, employing content analysis within a qualitative framework, by examining relevant university documents and regulations, comparing them against the philosophy of university education, academic standards, and the regulations governing higher education in Yemen, and evaluating them accordingly. The study found that university requirements in universities under the control of the Houthi group underwent a restructuring process that included the introduction of some courses and the modification of others, within the framework of broader institutional and intellectual transformations that were reflected in the objectives, content, and intellectual foundations of these courses. The study concludes that there are a number of fundamental issues regarding the extent to which these changes and substitutions are consistent with the philosophy of university requirements, the academic standards for designing university courses, and the regulatory frameworks governing higher education in Yemen. The study also emphasizes the importance of adhering to the philosophy of university education and academic standards when developing university requirements, and enhancing the independence of university institutions in preparing, approving, and reviewing courses, in a manner that ensures the achievement of their scientific and educational mission and preserves the quality of the educational process.
